Paoli Methodist has a 100 year history of following God and taking care of our church family and our neighbors. We are a Great Commandment church.
The Pharisees, a group of religious leaders in Jesus' day, challenged Him on priorities..."
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'
This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Matthew 22:36-40 (NIV)
The above quotation from the New Testament is the foundation of how we live our lives as United Methodist Christians here at the corner of Devon Road and South Valley Road in Paoli, PA. Throughout the history of the Paoli Methodist Church, we have had a keen interest in caring for each other, and for those with whom we live, play, work and worship. We express this in our community, county, state , country and world with our commitment to mission work to the less fortunate. We express this in our church by our care for the sick, the suffering, the grieving and those who have had life changes - either personally, or in their families.
In John’s gospel, it is even more simply stated – “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” So as best we can, we try to love and care for others and each other like Jesus. He loved us before we knew Him, forgave us before we asked, restored us before we fully turned ourselves around and gave us all this without our being able to earn or deserve it. We seek to live this out in our worship, our fellowship, our outreach and our lives.
